Milestones of a different nature – goodbye nummies.
Milestones of a different nature - goodbye nummies.

We have had lots of milestones in the White house over the last few months, first day at school, first sports awards, first wobbly tooth and first visit from the toothfairy followed very quickly by the second visit from the toothfairy! Mostly they have been positive and happy milestones, although a little tinged with emotion, […]

Oh wow.

I had actually managed to forget about one of the very worst side-effects of saying goodbye to my parents after each visit. Somehow I have been able to completely block out the desperateness that is two small children who miss their Gogga and Packet. Phew, its exhausting. Stella had another EPIC tantrum this morning after […]

Cross posting

I know I already posted this over at my Photography business website but I couldn’t resist putting it here too. This photo is growing on me. I think I was just too irritated with my muse after I took the photo to truly appreciate it! Sheesh but Amy annoys me, everytime I turn my camera on […]

Stella is nine months old – an update

Stella is nine months old. Her seven month milestone passed in a frantic blur as I tried to get organised for our holiday to South Africa. She celebrated by getting herself up onto all fours from lying on her stomach. I was convinced she would crawl immediately but she waited for her eight month birthday […]

Chicken legs

I am finding it so hard to get back into a blogging routine. I wake up at 5am full of ideas and plans and then fall back asleep and then the day starts and its all run, run, run and I don’t have the time. Then its bedtime and I am still hoarding sleep like […]

Stella is 15 weeks and 4 days

People keep asking me how old Stella is and I say three months but in fact she is closer to four months. I will say it again but I just can’t believe how fast time is flying by. Yesterday was my Mum’s 60th birthday. I wish we could all be there to celebrate with her […]

Two milestones in one day

These pics don’t really correspond with the title of the blog post but I have such a glut of pics I want to get up here on the blog that I am going ahead anyway. So there. Stella has now been sleeping unswaddled for both day naps and at night since Sunday 19 July. I […]

Stella is 12 weeks

Stella at 12 weeks. We have just turned a corner with the sleeping, Stella has done five nights in a row with only one feed between going down at around 7pm and waking at around 7am. Friday the 10th July 2009 Stella had her first night sleep on only one feed and I thought it […]

Cheese and whine

Careful, or Amy might turn you into a frog! Its 7.45pm on Sunday evening and I am off to bed. Ron and I went out last night, to a friend’s house down the road, for a cheese and wine party. Apart from conjouring up bad memories from university when Society evenings used to call a […]

Stella is 8 weeks old – Part II

Stella Margaret White at 8 weeks old – Part II, the stats. In the interests of record keeping then this is how the average day is broken up with feeds and sleeps @ 8 weeks of age: 7.30am Stella is awake and alert. She likes to be unswaddled in her cot and to wave her arms […]

Sleep and the newborn

Through out my pregnancy when people asked me practical questions like “where will the baby sleep?” I always gave very ambiguous answers. We didn’t want to make too many parenting decisions before meeting our child so we couldn’t decide where the baby would sleep until we knew whether the baby was a good sleeper, or […]

Stella is 3 weeks old

Stella is three weeks old today. I have been keeping a daily diary since we came home from hospital. In it I record when Stella is awake or asleep, which side breast she has fed from and for how long, when she went down in her cot and how easy or difficult it was to […]

Amy is 2 years and 9 months

Amy is exactly two years and nine months old today. I need to write a quick update about where she is at in her life, before it changes forever and she becomes a big sister. I used to be good at updating Amy’s milestones but since she turned two I seem to have run out […]

Thanks for all your comments and support! Again, the internets come through for me in my time of need! The good news is that today has been a whole lot better! I decided to get up and walk this morning even though it was drizzling and ended up having a great walk, its so much […]

Sleep, dummys and poo

So it looks like I did speak too soon. Friday and Saturday nights must have been a coincidence and Sunday night was pure fluke (falling asleep mid story.) Monday night she screamed herself hoarse for 2 hours until eventually I sat with her until she fell asleep and tonight its been just over 2 hours […]

Operation d-u-m-m-y *update*

*”Operation D-U-M-M-Y update:”* *”This is what happened tonight in the middle of a bedtime story. Ron called me to see and sure enough, Amy had FALLEN ASLEEP right then and there. No dummy, no crying, no complaints, not even a mention of it. This is something that hasn’t happened EVER, in the history of forever. […]

Goodbye dummy – Amy 2 years 7 months

This post will be written entirely in italics, within quotation marks, within stars, for reasons which will become obvious. *”As I type this my daughter is asleep in her bed, enjoying an afternoon nap. It might not sound like a monumental milestone for a 31 month old unless I explain that she fell asleep without […]

Sleeping issues

I should never have spoken. Last night Amy was awake three times, the first time I went in to comfort her but she escalated into hysteria so quickly that I couldn’t comfort her in any way. I left her and then Ron went in, picked her up, settled her and put her down again eventually. […]

Amy – 22 months – potty training?

Amy, asleep with her new Ikea duvet and pillowcase set. This is the first time she has gone to sleep with a pillow, we’ll see how she does. She has been sleeping under the duvet for nearly a week now and after a few shouts the first few nights, she seems to be sleeping peacefully […]

Jetlag and other travel issues

The last four days have been very hard. Suprisingly Amy has had the easiest adjustment to the timezone and being back in Sydney. She is much happier since getting back from the UK and I suppose I can understand why. The last few days of the holiday were very hard on her, she would wake […]

Tantrums – Amy 16 months

The pics accompanying this post are old. I have been sorting through the archives again trying to keep my hundreds and thousands of photos in some kind of order, its an ongoing job!Amy had a proper public tantrum today. Deb and Scott and the kids are down from Brisbane staying with Deb’s folks for a […]

Amy – 14 months part II

The photos in this post are of Amy and her friends from mothers group playing in Sonya’s lovely garden! The rest of the text is part of the ongoing update of Amy at 14 months old. Sleeping is on an up and down pendulum from very good, to downright terrible, but I guess that’s just […]

Thumb sucking

Amy has recently lost interest in her dummy and decided a thumb suits her better! I alternate between being relieved she has learnt to self-soothe and anxious that she will still be sucking her thumb at 16!! There is always something new to worry about!
