Renovations – The kitchen

One of the pieces of advice I have given to some friends who are renovating their home, is not to leave too many finishing details until the end of the job.

Or at least to ensure those little details are completed before the room becomes functional. In our case we left the decision about the splashback and the lighting in the kitchen until the job was done.

As a result we have been using the kitchen since the end of August and we still haven’t put up the rangehood, chosen and ordered our splashback or sorted out the lighting.

The kitchen is fully functional and AMAZING and the incentive to complete the job has fallen down the list of priorities which include cooking all the things in my heavenly new oven, putting away all the things in my huge new pantry and entertaining all our friends on our fabulous new deck!

However this is all going to change as Ron and I are determined to do one last push and get the details finished.

This morning Ron bought our pendant lights that are going to hang down above the kitchen bench and we have asked our builder to come back and sort out the range hood for us so we can make the final choice on the splashback. In the meantime, here are some progress photographs from way back in July, because I still love watching how these things unfold!
