The Super Whites The ordinary life of a Super Mum

The Super Whites
These things.

I have been preoccupied with a few things this week, nothing serious, just stuff that I can’t seem to work through and get past. When I feel anxious I know that the best thing for me to do is shut the lid on my laptop and spend more time with my family. And so thats what I have done.

I made marmalade and soup on my afternoon off which always soothes my soul.

Luckily I am feeling great physically and my plan to cut out the crap this week has been a solid one. My cravings for snack foods are almost gone and I have been looking forward to my delicious salads and soups all week.

I am always a better parent and wife when I am well rested and well fed. Bootcamp is going really well and I am super excited to get back to running now that my hip/adductor muscle injury is healing.

We had a lovely weekend to look forward to, dinner out with Ron’s parents to celebrate his Mum’s birthday on Friday and then the girls stayed over so I could enjoy a morning to myself on Saturday while Ron went to rugby.

I did a quick 6km run and although my hip was painful, there was no lingering pain afterwards which is a good sign. Its less than a month until I run a 9km fun run across the Sydney Harbour Bridge! I know I can make the distance but I just need to make sure I don’t make my hip worse while training which is why I am taking it easy. Sadly one of the things that has been on my mind is the fact that running just doesn’t seem to agree with my hips unfortunately and I am starting to come to terms with the fact that I might not realise my dream of running a half marathon. Its hard to deal with because I love running so much and thanks to Bootcamp my fitness is amazing. Still, a good run yesterday morning helped me leave some of my annoyances behind.

Later that morning I went round to a friend’s house for the second crochet morning that she has arranged. Its a lovely excuse to sit with a group of fascinating women, drinking tea and teaching each other how to crochet. Last time I went I learnt how to crochet in a straight line to make squares which I have subsequently turned into a little dolls blanket for Amy, this time I wanted to get a reminder on how to make granny squares. Another thing that helps soothe a restless mind is keeping your hands busy.

Then last night we had a fabulous dinner party with amazing friends! We fed and bathed the girls and got them into their jamies and then drove round to our friends place, popped a sleeping Stella into the portacot and a tired Amy in front of Tangled on the telly and had the best evening!

Delicious food, great company and lots of laughs. It was just what I needed to jolt me out of the doldrums and remind me about what is really important, friends and family. I am a lucky, lucky woman…..
