Today was a great day despite the wet weather. We hosted lunch for my Mother’s Group with husbands and babies and had 10 of us in all including 5 children. Ron played a very wet round of golf teeing off at 5.30am so was home by 10.30 and Amy and I had a lazy morning and took our time tidying the house and getting things organised before our guests arrived. Luckily the rain moved off in time for the deck to dry out so we could eat outside and it was a really enjoyable afternoon.
The weather was more obliging for Ron’s birthday and we had a really good evening out with his parents and sister at the Sydney Rowing Club on the water near where his parents live. It was a low key birthday for Ron and he did mention that he felt a bit sad about not having his annual birthday weekend in Tewkesbury, or a shared party with the famous Russell Barnes.
Amy and I tried to make it as fun as possible. First thing in the morning Ron helped Amy to open his presents, nothing fancy, a beautiful pictoral book on Rugby, some steak knives and Nando’s peri-peri sauce and a tin of chocolate covered fruit. (For those of you who don’t know, my husband isn’t actually turning 75 as it might sound like from his presents!)
Amy was very well behaved when we went out. She went for a wander around with Grandad to check out the boats and the sea gulls and then she sat down and enjoyed the view before she went to sleep in her pram.
