We arrived on Tuesday afternoon, Amy was perfectly behaved during the flight, she slept most of the way on my lap. We collected our hired car and found our way to Deb and Scott’s house easily thanks to Deb’s excellent instructions! Ron and Debbie have known each other since leaving school. They are living in Brisbane where Scott is in the defence force and they have two gorgeous children, Paige who is 2 and Riley who is 3 weeks younger than Amy. (I know! He is going to be the next best thing in the front row for Australian Rugby! Actually make that New Zealand rugby!)
Amy was fascinated by Paige and followed her around tirelessly! Paige was so good with Amy and played very gently with her.
Amy was not quite sure what to make of Riley in his walker, she had a go and didn’t like it much, she prefers to crawl. Riley is a speed demon in his walker though and can race from one end of the house to the other!
We had a couple of lazy evenings at home and an outing to a childrens play lagoon at Redcliffe which is this amazing man made beach complete with sand, palm trees and life guards, oh, and the requisite hordes of school children!
The next day we played 9 holes of golf, pushing Amy and Riley in their prams! This was great fun and Ron and I have agreed Amy will be a professional golfer when she grows up, Ron will caddy and I will be manager!
Then Ron, Amy and I said goodbye and made our way to my old uni friend Ronita’s where we were staying the night.
